Why NAP consistency matters
Your name, address and phone (NAP) are how Google, Bing, Apple and AI assistants confirm that your business is real and where it is. Conflicting details make them less confident, and customers get the wrong number.
Old addresses after a move, tracking phone numbers and duplicate listings are the most common causes. Fixing them is often a quicker win than building new listings.
- Step 1
Formatting is fine
“St” vs “Street”, “Ste” vs “#”, (217) vs 217- are the same to Google. These show as a match.
- Step 2
Real differences are flagged
An old address, a missing suite, a different phone number or a renamed business shows as a mismatch to fix.
- Step 3
Fix the worst first
The list at the end puts wrong phone numbers and addresses first, because they cost you calls.
